Batch Expert screen capture showing a B.Braun BioStat B (Sartorius)
reactor. The button to the right allow operators to execute a batch.
The buttons automatically appears based upon the recipe selected.
The reactor also includes a pH-stat controller that is a rul;e-based
controller for substrate feed control.

reactor. The dialog shown appears after the operator starts a recipe.
Based upon desired batch headers a dialog appears where the
operator enters batch specific information.
Batch Expert screen capture showing an example recipe. The recipe
can control all aspects of the batch including PID setpoints and modes,
alarm limits and modes, rule-based controllers, data historian setting
etc. A recipe can include signal processing elements such as filtering,
empirical or physical models etc.
Batch Expert screen capture showing the data historian and trending.
Batch Expert trends charts incorporate Gigasoft technology. The
reactor or vessel or specific historical batch. Any number of different
trends from different historical batches or different 'live' batches can
displayed in the same chart.
Batch Expert screen capture showing the flexibility of Batch Expert to
collect data and control external equipment, instrument and
analyzers. ILS can easily provide fully functional interfaces to
equipment that have a serial (RS232/RS422), OPC, or analog
interface. This screen shows how Batch Expert collects data from and
controls sampling from a YSI 2700 in real-time, collects data from
Sartorius scales in real-time (Batch Expert infers then control feed
flow), and collected data from a Alicat mass flow meter. Imagine the
control and historical data possibilities. Just call ILS with the make
and model and we can tell you if we can communicate.
Batch Expert screen capture showing PID control interface. Batch
Expert includes built-in PID controllers that are feature rich. PID
controller include built-in setpoint-profile, setpoint equation, CASCADE,
manual controller output, full control of PID constants for gain
scheduling applications, etc., all of which can be recipe dependent.

interface deployed for a customer has 10+ New Brunswick BioFlo
reactors. Batch Expert can simultaneously communicate via OPC,
ODBC, direct Oracle, Email (POP3, SMTP), and Serial RS232/RS422. For
this application the customer requested ILS consultants to issue
critical alarms by email and audible speech alarms through Microsoft
text-to-speech. Customers can log onto the system remotely while
home or on the road to check operating conditions.
